Y'all, this is going to be a long one, so I hope that you'll bear with me because I want to do justice to this amazing couple and their perfect day. You may remember these two from a couple months back and their oh-so-sweet engagement photos at the Virginia Tech Duckpond. Well, they got married just over a month ago, and I don't even know where to begin. They and their friends and family were all just so calm all morning, and were just really glad to be spending time together. And even when the heavens opened up just half an hour before the ceremony, Lilly just said, "Well, it's a good thing I like the rain! I don't mind this at all." She's a saint, truly. Luckily, it did stop just before the ceremony and we got to see the most beautiful rainbow, practically made to order. And then there was Lilly's grandmother who wore the most fantastic hat to the ceremony and I just knew she was special the minute I saw her. I complimented her on her hat and she grins at me and says (in the best English accent - be still my Downton Abbey-loving heart), "Oh thank you dahling! And by the way, I'm Nanny!" And if that weren't enough, for the ceremony, she switched to a fascinator (!) which we really need to make a thing in this country. And y'all, meaningful details everywhere! Lilly's mama gifted Tyler with Lilly's grandfather's green cardigan - it's one of the last things she had of his and, given Tyler's penchant for cozy, 'old man sweaters,' she knew that Tyler was the right person to be trusted with such a special heirloom.
Everyone (and I do mean everyone) was up and dancing and singing for the entire ceremony. It was so perfect, and there was nothing but love and joy for the whole day and I can't imagine a better send off into life together than the one that Lilly and Tyler shared.
